Our Story

How it all started...

The original church was organized in 1873, in a building on the site of the old Rocky Face School. The building served as a school and place of worship for Baptists and Methodists in the community. The building was burned down and the two churches moved their place of worship to an old log house, which was the Hamp Russell home. They decided to build a community church, each man provided a log (some provided two). This new church was built on the present-day site of Rocky Face Baptist Church around 1883.

In 1941, the first unit of the present brick veneer building was built. Later, a two-story Sunday School annex was added on and the auditorium was lengthened. In 1955, an addition was built on to the front of the building and a bell tower was then added. The present-day sanctuary was added on in 1974.

Expanding the vision...

Nowadays, the congregation of Rocky Face Baptist Church, under the vision of its leadership, are setting their eyes on flooding the community with Jesus's love. We all are of one goal, which is to be the warm and light in the cold dark world. A shelter and safe haven from the judgement and cruelty that the world can contain.

No matter who you are, you are welcome to Rocky Face Baptist Church. We will love on you and make you feel right at home. You are cordially invited to come get in on the ground floor of the movement that is Rocky Face Baptist Church. The heavens are the limits.

Where we are headed...

Our church is heading into the future, without sacrificing the feeling of being home to all that believe and want to grow in the light of Jesus Christ. We are giving our efforts into ministering to the community and expanding the reach of the church to beyond the Rocky Face, Ga area.
